Minor Progress in Gender Pay Equity, But a Big Gap Persists

Despite some recent progress in compensation equity, women in medicine continue to be paid significantly lower salaries than men.

According to the Female Compensation Report 2024 by Medscape Medical News, male doctors of any kind earned an average salary of about $400,000, whereas female doctors earned approximately $309,000 — a 29% gap.
