Advancing Women in Medicine: WIM Summit™ & Women in Medicine® Nonprofit Programs
Dr. Shikha Jain founded the Women in Medicine (WIM)® 501(c)3 nonprofit organization to advance women in healthcare through a comprehensive approach that includes mentorship, leadership development, advocacy, and community building. The nonprofit is committed to addressing the systemic barriers that women in medicine face and works tirelessly to create a more equitable and inclusive environment within the healthcare industry.
In addition to founding the WIM nonprofit, Dr. Jain also founded and serves as the CEO of the Women in Medicine Summit™, an initiative that operates as a separate entity but is strongly supported by the nonprofit. The summit is an annual event that brings together healthcare professionals, leaders, and innovators to address the unique challenges and opportunities facing women in medicine. It serves as a catalyst for change, offering a platform for networking, collaboration, and education through keynote speakers, panel discussions, and interactive workshops.

The WIM nonprofit extends its impact beyond the summit by offering year-round programming designed to empower women at all stages of their careers. This includes leadership workshops, mentorship programs that connect emerging leaders with established professionals, allyship training for male leaders to foster inclusivity, and advocacy initiatives aimed at influencing policy and institutional change. The nonprofit also provides essential resources and support for women navigating the complexities of work-life integration, career transitions, and professional development.
Moreover, the WIM nonprofit is deeply involved in advocacy, partnering with organizations and institutions to promote policies that foster gender equity in healthcare. Collaborations with academic institutions enable the nonprofit to conduct research on gender disparities in medicine and develop evidence-based solutions to these challenges.
Through these efforts, the WIM nonprofit aims to transform the culture of medicine, making it more inclusive, supportive, and equitable for all. Participation in WIM’s initiatives allows members to contribute to a broader movement that not only advances women in medicine but also enhances the overall quality of healthcare.
